Location

The serene Douro Valley – the oldest demarcated wine region in the world and UNESCO world heritage listed. We are just 75-minute drive from International Airport Francisco Sá Carneiro in Oporto, with Lisbon a leisurely 4 hours driving distance.

Yoga

There will be regular group complimentary classes, these are accessible to all levels and provide a really great introduction to the practice of yoga. If you are new to yoga and overwhelmed by the group setting we can work in a 121 environment where I can really help break things down, explaining why we do what we do and assisting so you understand your body and the postures ‘asanas’ we will work through. As a regular practitioner of yoga you may be looking for a challenge or a opportunity to work closely on certain aspects of your practice – we can discuss what you would like to take away from your time at Anantara and put together a package of classes that will take you towards that goal.  

BODY WORK

Compliment your physical practice with a body work session – utilising my skills as an Osteopath and Massage therapists I will help explain and  address any areas of tension, imbalance or discomfort. At request we can also utilise my training in Thai Massage and Acupuncture.

Food

Dining here is a celebration of the region – much of the produce comes from the verdant valley and surrounding countryside. An organic garden of vegetables and herbs located on the estate ensures the finest ingredients are harvested only as needed, for ultimate freshness and flavor.

Free time

  • Relax in the tranquil spa, designed uniting nature and Portuguese tradition.

  • Visit some of the oldest wineries in the world that produce vintages from the valley’s vine-filled terraces.

  • Explore the beauty of the valley; by foot, by river cruise or by helicopter.

  • Adventure – from Canyoning The Cabrum, Montain climbing or Tree Climbing you won’t be left disappointed.

ITALY 8th October – 14th October 2017

Traditional Italian Villa in the hills of Lucca

Location

Lucca, Tuscany, where you will be surrounded by beautiful rolling hills whilst being only 10 minutes from the small historic town of Lucca.

Yoga

Daily vinyasa style yoga classes with yours truly – using our breath to move through the practice, strengthen our bodies and calm our minds. We will tailor the week so that the retreat doesnt leave anything out , giving all the juicy spots real TLC – hip and Chest openers/Twists/Backbends and Forward Folds. If you are a complete beginner you are in safe hands with lots of guidance to help you understand what you are trying to achieve from your practice. more experienced yogis you will also be challenged in a very supported safe environment – lots of assists and advice.  Evening classes we will slow things down, classes will be more restorative and we shall add meditation into the mix.

Food

Elspeth Humm will be providing you with the tastiest plant based menu you ever laid your eyes on… vibrant colourful fresh organic produce. You will leave feeling compltely nourished, glowing from the inside out. Plus you will no doubt take away an overwhelming amount of inspiration, and FYI Elle is extremely passionate about catering for you all from the heart of Italy as this is where did her training so it is going to be even more delicious than before!

Free time

We are not far from the small town of Lucca, where you can spend the afternoon enjoying hidden coffee and gelato shops or hire a bike and trace the remains of the Roman Amphitheater whilst also admiring the various towers and villas dating from the 12th to 16th CENTURY. There are many breath taking walking routes surrounding the accommodation to, and i will be running group circuit classes for those of you who like to get a bit sweaty and work on your strength and fitness. If your body needs more love than lunges I will also be available to for treatments (from osteopathy, acupuncture to sports and therapeutic massage).  Included in the price will also be an afternoon at a local winery and a dinner out in one of the traditional local restaurants (courtesy of Elle’s tasty connections and recommendations!).

CALA D’OR 27th October – 4th November 2017

Hotel Cala D’Or, A beautiful 4.5* family run hotel set in its own hidden beach cove (a view which can also be enjoyed from the heated hotel pool).

Location

Cala d’Or is on the southeast coast of the Spanish island of Mallorca. Flights are taken into Palma, from here transfers and taxis are very accessible. 

Yoga

I will guide you through a 2 hour class together from 8am-10am. For guests who would then like further small group sessions or one to one practice this can be arranged. 

Food

We will enjoy a large brunch together following our morning class. Lunch is usually not needed after such a nourishing breakfast – but from previous trips I would recommend bringing euros down to the beach and enjoying the fresh fruit locals serve early to mid afternoon. In the evenings you are free to explore Cala D’or and dine at your leisure – often agroup of us choose to dine together and meet each evening around 7.30.

Free time

There is plenty to see and do. from boat trips, to cave exploring, bike rental, coastal walks or enjoy a day at the local market. If you do not want to leave the peace of hotel – there is a beautiful wellness centre offering treatments and massages. I can also vouch for the beach being a truly fabulous way to spend all of your days if thats what you need from this retreat.

Peace Haven Tangalle Resort, Sri Lanka

Location

Nestled on a rocky outcrop on the southernmost coast line of Sri Lanka. We are only a short 45 minute air transfer between Colombo’s Bandaranaike International Airport and Dickwella (just 10 minutes from the resort) or for those of you who prefer the scenic route the resort is a three and a half hour drive from Bandaranaike International Airport.

As if the leisure facilities, the spa complex, the pools and ocean access wasn’t enough for your stay our location gives you great access to many amazing sites of interest. Within driving distance we have access to Uda Walawe National Park, Rekawa Turtle Conservation Project, Bundala National Park, Mulkirigala Rock Temple and Handunugoda Tea Plantation each providing their own amazing adventure and experience.
